TANZANIANS URGED TO AVOID DIRTY POLITICIANS

By Christopher Majaliwa,DailyNewz
The advice was issued yesterday by presidential flag bearer on CCM ticket, Dr John Magufuli, at a campaign rally held yesterday in Kiomboi, Iramba District.
Dr Magufuli noted that a candidate who is focused on serving Tanzanians would not apply such tactic, but would instead persuade people through spelling out how he was going to transform their lives.
He said that politicians buying voter cards to make them unable to vote on October 25 polls, if given power would not hesitate using the country’s resources for ulterior motives.
“If today someone gives you twenty thousands in exchange with voter card, will he care bringing you development when voted into office?” he questioned, advising Tanzanians to say no to such people.
It is said that voter cards buying strategy is one of the dirty politics applied especially in the areas where there is stiff competition.
In this strategy, politicians trade voter cards for shillings, capitalising on the abject poverty that so many registered voters face in order to stifle democracy in the area.
Political pundits across the world believe that voter cards buying strategy is the root cause of the low turnout in elections.
It is against this backdrop that the ruling CCM candidate warns the people that trading their cards was as the same as putting their welfare at crossroad.
He called upon Tanzanians to ensure their cards remain protected and they turnout in large numbers to exercise their constitutional right come October 25.
Dr Magufuli affirmed that those going around to give out money to lure voters were the very people who had their names axed as they used a lot of money to win intra-party nomination process.
He reiterated that his commitment was to serve the country and build a new Tanzania that would see all people benefiting from available natural resources.
